Charlottetown’s Tastiest Taco goes to:

2025 Taco Battles Champions

After ten taco-filled days, 35 participating restaurants, and hundreds of hungry voters, the 2025 Taco Battles champions have been crowned!

The golden taco trophy for the highest-rated taco, aka “Charlottetown’s Tastiest Taco,” goes to Tacos El Chino for their submission, The Ultimate Cheesy Birria, a crowd favourite that sparked some serious buzz across the city.

A new addition to Charlottetown’s food scene, Tacos El Chino operates as a food truck serving authentic Mexican flavours. Their winning taco was created by Chef Claudia Perez Vega and featured a warm corn tortilla dipped in rich, flavourful birria consommé, filled with gooey melted cheese and tender, slow-cooked beef.

The Taco Battles gave this new food truck, which just opened in April, a strong debut on the local culinary scene!

Taco Battles also crowned winners in each protein category, including:

“This year’s competition saw an unbelievable range of flavours and creativity,” said Steve Murphy, co-founder of Sea City Collective. “Every restaurant brought their A-game, and the energy from both chefs and diners proves how special our local food scene is.”
